How to Get Movement in Before 8AM

So I am sharing my top 5 ways for you to get movement in before 8AM.

Today's podcast, The Midlife GlowGetter Podcast, goes further with 13 different ways to help you move your body early in the AM. These are tried and true practices I use that have helped me loose over 170 lbs in my mid 40's.

Top 5 Practices To Get Movement In Before 8AM

1) Sleep in your workout clothes

Okay, I know. This sounds funny. But it removes one big step.

If changing clothes in the morning feels like climbing a mountain, skip it. You can always throw on a hoodie and go.

I literally wear my leggings I buy from H & M, a sports bra from H & M and a tank and I sleep in that. In the morning I wake, go potty, scrap my tongue, drink water, have espresso, apply deorderant, take supplements, check emails, social messages and banking accounts. Then put on a sweat shirt adn move my body.

Afterwards, I shower and do all the things… So I don’t talk my brain out of it. I do it becuase I am already ready and takes less effort and thinking.

2.) Put a full water bottle next to your bed

Your body wakes up dehydrated. And dehydration can feel like tiredness.

So make the first thing you do… drink water.

Even a few big sips helps your brain wake up.

3.) Do a 2-minute “wake-up warm-up”

Your body might feel tight in the morning. Especially over 40.

So don’t force yourself into a hard workout while you feel stiff.

Do 2 minutes of easy movement:

• shoulder rolls

• arm circles

• ankle circles

• slow squats holding a chair

• cat-cow stretch

Two minutes. That’s it. It tells your body, “We’re awake now.”

4.) Decide your workout the day before

Mornings are not for planning.

Decide ahead of time:

• what you’re doing

• where you’re doing it

• what time you're doing it

• how long it takes

This removes the “what should I do?” problem.

5.) Pick an identity statement

Instead of “I’m trying to work out,” say:

• “I’m a morning mover.”

• “I keep promises to myself.”

• “I take care of my body.”

Identity is fuel. It helps you act like the person you’re becoming.
