Awaken & Bloom in Midlife Newsletter with Jax

August 2025

Hello friend,

I can't believe its August already. Where is the time going.

Hope you are having an amazing summer! Hope you are enjoying time with family and friends. Taking care of yourself, focusing on your glow-up goals. Remember when you take care of yourself and fill your own cup you can take care of your loved ones and help fill up their cup. It's not selfish putting yourself and your goals first. It's strategic. When you are happy you can make others happy.

Summer has been good to me and my family. I've been trying to get outside everyday, walking every morning outside unless it rains. Lately, I have not been able to walk at lunch at work outside becasue of the high heat. So I just sit in my care, listen to music and talk to family and friends for 45 minutes. I also want to make sure to hit more outdoor patios while the weather is still warm to get a drink and appetizers or a meal.

So I may not be going on my Charleston vacation first week of September. My son may have the opportunity to get a new job. It's an increase in pay and an opportunity to grow in his field. He is in the midddle of the interview process and may not be able to go due to training. So we will see. I won't lie, I'll be super disappointed.

If you all have not seen on my instagram page I now have a channel you can subscribe to. I post glow-up tips and Life Coaching info. Everything from wellness, weight loss, style, beauty, career, financial, realtionships, and general life coaching tips. Check it out and see what I am sharing. You may enjoy it since you subscribe to this newsletter.

Another thing...I am rebranding soon. I will keep my name Jax Stys, but will have a business name that will be more of a brand. I am the face of this brand , but this brand will have a website, socials, guides, coaching, retreats, a travel group plus who knows what else. This newsletter will be rebranded with it. My facebook group will be rebranded as well. I am creating a LLC with a Trademark and I can't share the name just yet. I wil still have my personal socials and personal blog whcih will be a sister to this brand and of course more personal. I have BIG goals and plans for an online business. My plan is to turn this full-time in 2027.

So below in today's newsletter I will be sharing a weight loss tip, a style tip, a beauty tip with recommended products, and a Life Coaching chat. Plus much more.

So keep reading and keep glowing! You've got this!

Love,

Jax

Midlife Magic

Today, we’re diving into a belief that can truly transform the way you navigate this powerful chapter of life.

Here it is:

“I can walk away with grace when something no longer serves me.”

Let’s take a deep breath with that one. Because for so many of us—especially as women—we were taught to stay.

To stick it out. To be the fixer. To settle.

To feel guilty if we said no or walked away from something that once felt right but now feels heavy. But here’s what midlife has taught me—and maybe it’s taught you, too: We only get one life. And in this season, we are reclaiming our time, our peace, and our power.

Walking away doesn’t mean failure. It doesn’t mean we’re weak or selfish or flaky. It means we’ve grown. It means we’ve checked in with our values and realized, “This isn’t aligned anymore.” And guess what? That’s okay. In fact, it’s more than okay—it’s essential. Because when we cling to what no longer serves us—whether it’s a job, a relationship, a toxic friendship, a habit, a version of ourselves—we block the magic that’s trying to make its way in.

Graceful exits are powerful. They’re rooted in self-respect, emotional maturity, and love—not just for others, but for yourself. And here’s the beautiful thing about midlife: You don’t need permission. You don’t need a dramatic exit. You don’t need to explain your worth to anyone. You just need your truth. Your peace. Your decision to walk forward—with grace.

So if something’s been tugging at your soul lately… If there’s a situation, a role, or a routine that feels like it’s draining you more than it’s fueling you— I want to lovingly remind you: You’re allowed to outgrow things. You’re allowed to choose peace over pressure. You’re allowed to say, “This no longer serves the woman I’m becoming.” And you can do it with a soft heart and strong boundaries. That’s what grace looks like. You are not starting over—you are starting new.

So say it with me, glow-getter: I can walk away with grace when something no longer serves me. Let that be your belief this week. Let it be your compass. Let it open the door to what’s next. Because the second half of life isn’t about shrinking or staying stuck. It’s about rising—with intention, with clarity, and with grace.

Wellness

Today, I want to talk about one of the most underrated, powerful, and accessible tools in any midlife wellness journey: Walking. That’s right—just putting one foot in front of the other can literally transform your body, your mind, and your life.

💖 Why Walking Matters—Especially in Midlife

As midlife women, we’re not here to punish our bodies. We’re here to nurture them. To keep our joints mobile, our heart strong, our minds clear, and our energy vibrant. And walking? It checks every box.

Here are just a few benefits:

• Boosts cardiovascular health

• Supports healthy weight loss

• Improves digestion and gut motility

• Enhances mood and reduces anxiety

• Increases bone density and joint strength

• Supports hormone regulation during perimenopause and menopause

• And improves sleep quality and brain health

And here’s the best part: You can start right now. No fancy gym. No complicated routine. Just lace up your shoes and move. Every day at 6am, I head outside and get my walk in. Why? Because it sets the tone for my entire day. It clears my mind. It jumpstarts my metabolism. And it’s me time—before the world gets loud. Plus, I’m walking for accountability. I’ve got 90 more pounds to lose in my full-body glow-up journey, and walking is a key part of my daily rhythm.

I’m sharing my walks every day now on Instagram Stories and Reels—not just to keep myself on track, but to inspire other midlife women to get out and move their bodies. Because listen—it is never too late to live healthier, feel better, and become the version of yourself you know you’re meant to be.

Let’s talk about Zone 2 cardio—because this is where the real magic happens. Zone 2 is the fat-burning zone. It’s a low to moderate intensity where you can still hold a conversation, but you’re clearly moving with purpose.

Walking in Zone 2:

• Increases fat oxidation (aka you burn fat efficiently)

• Improves metabolic flexibility

• Boosts endurance without spiking cortisol

• Supports hormonal balance, especially in perimenopause and menopause

• Is gentle on your joints but powerful for long-term results

It’s ideal for midlife women because it doesn’t overtax your body—it builds it up.0 I personally use a refurbished Apple Watch I bought from Best Buy three years ago—and it still works perfectly.

It tracks:

• My heart rate (so I can stay in Zone 2)

• My steps

• My movement rings and activity goals

You can also use:

• Fitbit

• Garmin

• Whoop

• Or your phone’s Health app (if you’re just starting out)

To find your Zone 2 heart rate, a simple rule of thumb is: 180 minus your age, then subtract another 5–10 if you’re just starting out or recovering from illness. So for a 47-year-old like me, Zone 2 would be around 123–133 beats per minute.

You can also ask ChatGPT:

“How many steps should a 47-year-old woman weighing [your weight] take per day to lose 1-2 pounds per week?”

This will give you a personalized range based on science and metabolism. If walking feels boring? Let’s fix that.

• Create a walking playlist (mine’s full of empowering bops and 90s throwbacks)

• Listen to a podcast (maybe The Midlife Glow Report😉)

• Walk with a friend, a neighbor, or even your dog

• Change up your route—explore new parks, neighborhoods, or trails

• Use your walk as meditation in motion—no music, just breath and presence

And when the weather won’t cooperate? I’ve got a solution for that too. I use a walking pad on rainy days, and it’s been a total game-changer. And here’s my advice: Get one with a bar handle. Many walking pads are narrow, and if you’re curvy, tired, or new to movement, having that balance bar makes it safer and more comfortable. You can walk while watching TV, scrolling your phone, or even while working at a standing desk. Movement doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. Every step counts.

✨ Final Thoughts

Glow-getter, here’s the truth: You don’t need to run. You don’t need to overtrain. You just need to walk. Every step is an act of self-respect. Every step says, “I’m still in this. I’m not giving up on myself.” And every step brings you closer to the healthiest, happiest version of you. So walk for your body. Walk for your brain. Walk for your future. And walk for the woman you’re becoming.

Let’s lace up and glow up—together.

Weight Loss Tip

Alright glow-getters, now that we’ve stepped into the power of walking—let’s take it one step further with something called NEAT. That stands for Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis, but don’t worry—I’m not here to make you memorize fancy terms. NEAT simply means all the calories your body burns doing everyday stuff that isn’t formal exercise.

And listen—when you’re a midlife woman trying to lose weight, NEAT is your secret weapon. Why? Because as we age, our resting metabolism naturally slows, and our bodies aren’t as quick to burn fat. But NEAT helps bridge that gap without the pressure of intense workouts. It’s movement that feels effortless, but it stacks up in big ways.

You know how you feel extra tired after a day of running errands—even if you didn’t hit the gym? That’s NEAT in action.

Let me give you 10 easy, effective ways to add more NEAT into your day—these are small shifts that can make a massive difference:

1. Park farther away when grocery shopping or at work.

2. Take the stairs instead of the elevator—even one flight helps!

3. Clean the house while listening to music or a podcast.

4. Stand up and pace during phone calls or Zoom meetings.

5. Walk around the room during commercial breaks or show credits.

6. Do a quick 5-minute tidy-up between tasks.

7. Grocery shop in-store instead of ordering delivery.

8. Carry laundry upstairs in smaller loads for more trips.

9. Dance while cooking or doing dishes.

10. Set a timer to stand, stretch, or walk for 2–5 minutes every hour while working a desk job.

Here’s the magic: These little activities don’t feel like exercise, but they increase your daily calorie burn, improve circulation, and keep your body active throughout the day. And in midlife, this is the exact kind of sustainable movement our bodies love.

So if you’re not up for a workout today—that’s okay. Just focus on moving more in your normal life. NEAT turns your daily routine into your wellness routine. Every moment becomes an opportunity to glow-up your metabolism, your mindset, and your momentum.

Alright friend, let’s make NEAT a lifestyle, not just a tip. Your glow-up is happening—even in the little moments.

Style Tip

Today, we’re going back to basics. This is one of those small things that makes a massive difference, especially when you’re glowing up in midlife.

Ready? Here it is: Please, please, please—invest in a full-length mirror.

I’m serious. If you’re trying to elevate your style, boost your confidence, and feel amazing in your clothes, this is non-negotiable. A full-length mirror is not a luxury—it’s a style essential.

Why? Because small mirrors only give you pieces of the puzzle. You might love your makeup, your top, or those earrings—but you’re not seeing the whole picture. And let’s be honest, what you can’t see might be clashing, bulky, wrinkled, or completely throwing off the vibe.

A full-length mirror gives you the power to see your outfit from head to toe—your silhouette, your proportions, your shoe choice, that coat you grabbed at the last minute. It’s your final checkpoint before stepping out into the world looking and feeling like the glow-getter you are.

So if you don’t have one already—today’s the day. Add a full-length mirror to your Amazon cart or pick one up at Target or HomeGoods. Hang it. Use it. Love it. Your future self will thank you.

Beauty Tip

Today, we’re talking about something that often gets overlooked in the self-care world: your signature scent.

Now I know what you’re thinking—a scent? Really? But hear me out.

When you’re on a glow-up journey—especially in midlife—it’s not just about what you wear or how your skin looks. It’s about how you feel. It’s about crafting an energy, a vibe, a presence that says: This is who I am becoming.

And scent? Scent is powerful. It’s emotional. It’s memory-making. It can instantly boost your mood, ground you, or make you feel magnetic—without saying a word.

Having a signature scent is like putting an exclamation point at the end of your personal style. It tells the world, “I take care of me. I know who I am. And I am worth remembering.”

So let me share a few of my favorite scents—because you know I’m always going to bring you real recommendations, especially ones that don’t break the bank.

Right now, I’m obsessed—and I mean OBSESSED—with the Kopari Hair and Body Mist in Kaanapali Coast. You guys. This smells like you just stepped off a first-class flight to Hawaii. It’s tropical, it’s fresh, it’s feminine without being too sweet. Perfect for summer, or anytime you want to feel like you’re glowing from the inside out. You can spritz it in your hair, all over your body—it’s light, but it lingers beautifully. I found mine on Amazon and Ulta, and trust me… it’s worth stocking up.

Another favorite by Kopari? Marebella Bloom. It’s more floral, more romantic. If Kaanapali Coast is your beachy vacation vibe, Marebella Bloom is your garden party glow-up. It’s soft, sophisticated, and perfect for midlife women who want something a little elegant, a little whimsical.

Now—can we talk about Cyklar?

I just started using this brand, and oh my glow, I am in love. The Vitamin C Body Oil, the Sensorial Body Wash, and the Nutrient-Rich Body Cream—all in the Naked Neroli scent—are giving spa-in-Italy energy. It’s citrusy, fresh, clean… but has this underlying warmth that makes it feel luxurious. And honestly? The ritual of applying these products makes me feel like I’m treating myself with the love and care I deserve.

I got all of these on Amazon too, so they’re easy to grab, even in your busy life.

So if you’re glowing up in midlife, don’t skip this part. Your signature scent is part of your identity. It’s one of the fastest ways to feel beautiful, confident, and present in your own skin. Choose something that makes you feel like your highest self—and then wear it like a crown.

You’re not just walking into a room. You’re arriving. And trust me, they’ll remember you.

Life Coaching Corner

Let’s talk about a little phrase that changed my life:

“It doesn’t get better than this.”

Now before your midlife brain jumps to “Jax, are you serious? — THIS is as good as it gets?!” Yes… and no. Let me explain. This is not about settling. This is about awakening.

It’s about choosing to live in this moment — fully, deeply, consciously — because this moment is the only one you actually have. Everything else? It’s either memory or imagination. The past is done. The future is a fantasy. And while planning for it is important, it doesn’t have to be better than now in order for you to be happy.

Let me say that again for those who’ve been stuck in the “I’ll be happy when…” cycle for way too long: You don’t have to wait until you lose 30 pounds, fall in love, get the dream job, clear the debt, or move to Charleston to feel joy. You are allowed to feel good right now — even as you work toward your glow-up.

Here’s the truth Joy is available to you in every single moment. Not later. Now. The future won’t bring more joy unless you learn to create it in the present. That glow-up? That reinvention? It begins when you stop outsourcing your happiness to the scale, the paycheck, the Instagram likes, or the relationship status. You don’t have to wait until things are “better.” You can claim peace right now. You can laugh right now. You can feel beautiful right now. You can turn on your favorite playlist, light a candle, move your body, drink a tall glass of water, put on lip gloss, and whisper, “This moment is mine.” Because it is.

Try This: The “Here and Now” Practice

I want to offer you a little coaching ritual I use when I feel stuck in future fantasy or present discontent.

✨ The It-Doesn’t-Get-Better-Than-This Reset

1. Pause.

Put your hand on your heart. Take three slow breaths. Feel your feet on the floor.

2. Say out loud:

“This moment is enough.”

“Nothing needs to change for me to feel peace right now.”

“I have the full capacity for joy in this moment.”

3. Notice what’s good.

Literally name five things that are beautiful, peaceful, cozy, or pleasurable in this exact moment. A breeze. Your favorite hoodie. A quiet house. A cup of tea. Your own breath.

4. Choose a joy-anchoring thought.

Here are a few I love:

“I am safe right now.”

“I get to enjoy this day.”

“There is beauty here.”

“Even now, I can glow.”

5. Take one conscious action.

Walk. Dance. Hydrate. Journal. Call a friend. Stretch. Organize one drawer. Not because it will “fix your life,” but because it grounds you back into the now.

Here’s your takeaway,

Stop waiting to feel good. Start now. You don’t need to change everything before you enjoy something. Put down the burden of “someday.” Pick up the gift of “this day.” You are not behind. You are right on time. And this moment — yes, this very one — is your greatest teacher, your deepest peace, and your wildest portal to joy.

Because honestly? It doesn’t get better than this.
